Job Overview

The Software Engineer I – SRE role focuses on ensuring high availability, performance, security, and operational excellence of Sumo Logic’s cloud-native SaaS products. Engineers in this role collaborate with development teams to improve system reliability, reduce operational overhead, and enable faster feature delivery through automation.

This is an entry-level, full-time position based in Noida, suitable for candidates with 0–1 year of industry experience.

Key Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer I – SRE, your responsibilities will include:

  • Improving the lifecycle of microservices and architectural components from design to production
  • Defining, evolving, and managing SLIs (Service Level Indicators) and SLOs (Service Level Objectives)
  • Writing automation and production-ready code to reduce operational workload and eliminate toil
  • Improving system reliability, efficiency, and security posture through automation
  • Scaling systems sustainably using cloud-native best practices
  • Participating in blame-free root cause analysis for incidents
  • Supporting and improving global incident response coordination (IRC)
  • Driving root cause identification and resolution across engineering teams
  • Collaborating in a fast-paced, iterative Agile environment
  • Supporting assisted engagements to optimize microservice operations

Required Qualifications and Skills

Candidates applying for this role should have:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • 0–1 years of industry experience
  • Experience managing cloud-native applications using reliability best practices
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills across the technology stack
  • Deep understanding of AWS services, including networking, compute, storage, and managed services
  • Experience with CI/CD and automation tools such as Kubernetes, Terraform, CrossPlane, Ansible, or Jenkins
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices
  • Ability to write production-ready code in Java, Scala, or Go
  • Strong Linux fundamentals and command-line proficiency
  • Understanding of cloud-native security principles
  • Familiarity with Agile frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban
  • Willingness to learn and work with Sumo Logic products

Desirable Skills (Good to Have)

The following skills are an added advantage:

  • Experience using observability or monitoring tools, including Sumo Logic
  • Exposure to planet-scale or large SaaS product environments
  • Experience operating AWS-based SaaS platforms
  • Knowledge of streaming technologies such as Kafka, Kafka Streams, or KSQL
  • Experience with Python in addition to Java, Go, or Scala
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, or Jenkins

Expected Salary / Market Estimate

₹5,00,000 – ₹8,00,000 per year
