Role Overview
As a Software Engineer at Responsive, you will work on core backend and distributed systems that power the Responsive Platform. This is a product-focused engineering role where you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, build, and optimize highly scalable and reliable applications.
You will contribute to performance tuning, system optimization, and continuous innovation while working closely with frontend engineers, UX designers, and product managers. The role emphasizes clean architecture, test-driven development, and the use of modern cloud and search technologies.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain distributed systems that ensure high performance, scalability, and reliability
- Build and enhance core backend services for the Responsive SaaS platform
- Monitor system performance and optimize bottlenecks to ensure low-latency query responses
- Collaborate with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams including product, frontend, and UX
- Continuously research emerging technologies and propose improvements through experimentation and innovation
- Contribute to building intuitive, seamless user experiences through close product collaboration

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- 1–2 years of experience in software design, development, and algorithm-focused problem solving
- Strong hands-on experience with Java and server-side Java development
- Solid understanding of Java design patterns and scalable application architecture
- Experience working with both frontend and backend technologies such as Spring, React, MongoDB, or similar frameworks
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Familiarity with cloud-native services for data storage, processing, and AI/ML workloads
- Strong understanding of Test Driven Development (TDD) practices
Preferred Skills
- Experience with search and retrieval technologies such as ElasticSearch, Apache Solr, or similar platforms
- Exposure to AI-driven solutions, including Natural Language Processing (NLP), semantic search, and text processing
- Understanding of large-scale data systems and performance optimization techniques
- Ability to work effectively in a distributed team environment
