Role Overview
As a Software Developer Intern, you will support research work related to industrial inspection by designing and building an interactive NDE software platform. The goal of this role is to encode inspection logic and workflows into a reliable, validated software interface that helps engineers and inspectors make accurate inspection decisions. You will work with rule-based systems, data inputs from text and CAD geometries, and visualization dashboards to improve safety, quality, and productivity in inspection processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build an intuitive software interface for authoring and visualizing NDE logic and flowcharts
- Translate inspection procedures and standards into executable rules, decision trees, and validations
- Implement rule-based and algorithmic workflows to guide inspection decisions
- Ingest and parse inputs from text documents and CAD geometries
- Map geometric information to inspection logic and decision flows
- Develop basic data processing utilities for signal or image preparation
- Create dashboards that display inputs, logic paths, and output recommendations
- Write clean, well-documented code with unit tests and basic CI practices
- Maintain version-controlled logic sets and code repositories
- Collaborate closely with NDE engineers and domain experts to validate outputs
- Iterate quickly based on feedback to improve usability and reliability
