About the Role
As an AI Robotics Intern, you will work at the intersection of robotics engineering, AI systems, and large-scale software integration. This role goes beyond academic robotics—you will help build, test, and deploy software that controls real autonomous drones and docking stations operating in live environments.
You will collaborate with experienced engineers across robotics, cloud, and AI teams, contributing directly to FlytBase’s production systems.
Key Responsibilities
In this internship, you will
- Develop and integrate software components for fully autonomous drone operations
- Work on software development, testing, and system integration for drones and docking stations
- Build and maintain Python-based microservices for robotic applications
- Integrate communication protocols such as MQTT, WebSockets, and REST APIs
- Interface with autopilot SDKs including DJI Mobile SDK, Onboard SDK, Payload SDK, and MAVROS
- Work in environments using Linux, ROS, Android-based Debian systems, and mobile apps
- Build internal tools to improve development workflows and reliability
- Evaluate cutting-edge robotics and AI technologies and deploy them to production
- Influence full-stack architecture decisions across robotics, cloud, and edge systems
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and external partners

What You’ll Own
As an intern, you will take ownership of meaningful technical work, including
- Designing, developing, and testing high-reliability systems for autonomous drones
- Building scalable, production-grade software for live drone fleets
- Using AI tools and automation to accelerate development, debugging, and iteration
- Contributing to systems that operate in mission-critical industrial environments
Best Suited For
Your application will stand out if you have experience or interest in one or more of the following
- Participation in Robocon, e-Yantra, IARC, IMAV, AUVSI SUAS, or similar robotics competitions
- Contributions to open-source robotics or AI projects
- Experience with multi-robot or distributed systems
- Hands-on work with control theory, motion planning, computer vision, or machine learning
- Experience using ROS
- Understanding of multithreading and concurrency
- Knowledge of network protocols from data link to application layer
Good to Have
Additional strengths include
- Experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and TDD practices

- Prior experience working in teams that have delivered commercial software or services
