Job Responsibilities
As an Associate DevOps Engineer, your core responsibilities will include:
Linux System Administration
- Manage file systems, permissions, users, groups, and cron jobs
- Monitor system resources using commands such as top, df, lsblk, and chmod
- Troubleshoot and optimize Linux-based servers
AWS Core Services
- Provision and manage EC2, S3, IAM, RDS, and VPCs
- Configure public/private subnets, route tables, gateways, and security groups
- Apply basic access controls and security practices
Networking Fundamentals
- Design and configure VPC components, internet/NAT gateways, and routing rules
- Understand traffic flow and network segmentation in AWS
Compute & Storage Management
- Launch and connect to EC2 instances via SSH, EC2 Connect, or SSM
- Manage S3 buckets with versioning, lifecycle policies, and encryption
- Use EBS snapshots and AMIs for backup and recovery
IAM & Security
- Manage IAM users, roles, and policies
- Monitor activities using CloudTrail and maintain compliance
- Apply basic cloud security best practices
CI/CD & Source Control
- Use GitHub or AWS CodeCommit for version control
- Build automation pipelines via GitHub Actions or CodeBuild
- Manage pull requests, commits, and branch merges efficiently
Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Automate cloud provisioning using Terraform scripts or CloudFormation YAML templates
- Deploy scalable infrastructure components including EC2, VPCs, and RDS
Monitoring & Logging
- Configure CloudWatch alarms, logs, and metrics to track performance
- Troubleshoot deployments and validate application behavior
Serverless & Event Automation
- Create Lambda functions triggered by S3 or other AWS events
- Implement basic event-driven architecture with proper IAM roles
Containers & Orchestration
- Build and run Docker containers locally
- Understand Kubernetes concepts including pods, deployments, and services
Cost, Compliance & Documentation
- Configure AWS Budgets and alerts and analyze costs using Cost Explorer
- Maintain accurate documentation and professional communication in tickets and knowledge bases
