Job Overview

The Automation Engineer – Entry Level role focuses on automation, DevOps modernization, and cloud-based infrastructure support. The position involves building automated deployment services, developing Python-based automation solutions, and supporting cloud environments to improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability.

This is a full-time position based in Pune, offering exposure to real-world DevOps and automation challenges in a global enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities

As an Automation Engineer at Equifax, your responsibilities will include:

  • Working as part of a DevOps team focused on modernization and automation
  • Promoting DevOps principles, automation culture, and best practices
  • Building, automating, and supporting application and infrastructure deployment services
  • Designing and implementing monitoring and self-healing systems
  • Creating orchestration workflows to enable fully automated self-service platforms
  • Developing and maintaining Python-based automation scripts
  • Writing and optimizing SQL queries for data extraction, manipulation, and reporting
  • Supporting configuration and change management activities
  • Developing and maintaining operations runbooks and documentation
  • Participating in system design discussions and providing technical feedback
  • Contributing to automation strategies with a focus on security, scalability, and resilience

Required Qualifications and Experience

Candidates applying for this role should meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree, Associate’s degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience
  • Understanding of SDLC methodologies, including Agile and Scrum
  • Foundational knowledge of infrastructure and application components
  • Proficiency in Python for automation and scripting
  • Strong understanding of SQL and relational databases
  • Familiarity with project tracking concepts such as cost, schedule, scope, and risk
  • Experience using collaboration tools like JIRA, Confluence, and Google Workspace
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Good interpersonal and time management skills
  • Willingness to collaborate with global teams across different time zones

Preferred Skills (Good to Have)

While not mandatory, the following skills can give candidates an advantage:

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
  • Exposure to CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub, Sonar, or Nexus
  • Experience with policy as code frameworks
  • Knowledge of Linux or Windows system administration
  • Exposure to middleware components such as web servers or application servers
  • Experience working in hybrid cloud environments
  • Familiarity with public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
