Role Overview – Software Engineer in Test
Disney is hiring QA Engineers across multiple levels. During the recruitment process, your skills and experience will determine your level placement.
As a Software Engineer in Test, you will:
- Design test strategies and quality frameworks
- Build and maintain automated test suites
- Validate APIs, services, web, and mobile applications
- Use observability tools to prevent regressions
- Improve release confidence through CI/CD quality gates
At senior levels, you may define organization-wide quality standards and mentor engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Test Strategy & Planning
- Define test strategies and acceptance criteria
- Collaborate with Engineering and Product teams
- Align quality goals with business objectives
2. Automation Development
- Design and implement automated tests for:
- APIs & services
- Web applications
- Mobile applications
- Data validation use cases
- Build frameworks for mocks, synthetic traffic, and test data setup
3. CI/CD & Quality Gates
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines
- Reduce flaky tests
- Ensure fast feedback loops
4. Observability & Reliability
- Monitor logs, metrics, and traces
- Validate SLIs and SLOs
- Detect regressions early
5. Non-Functional Testing
- Performance & load testing
- Resiliency validation
- Accessibility compliance
- Security validation (with specialists)
6. Data Validation
- Use SQL for data integrity verification
- Validate message flows and event-driven systems

Required Skills
Candidates should have:
- Experience designing test strategies
- Automation experience for web, mobile, APIs, and services
- Programming knowledge in:
