Role Overview
The Research Intern – Quantum will contribute to IBM’s ongoing research in quantum computing, AI, and enterprise applications. Interns will be involved in training large language models, Qiskit development, quantum algorithm implementation, and deployment of AI solutions.
This internship is ideal for freshers or final-year students pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematical Sciences, or related fields.
Key Responsibilities
1. Qiskit Development
- Contribute to open-source quantum software development using Qiskit.
- Implement algorithms from research papers and develop prototypes.
- Coding experience in Rust is a plus.
- Good foundation in quantum computing, graph theory, and probability.
2. AI for Quantum
- Work on large language models, agentic AI, and reinforcement learning frameworks.
- Develop and deploy AI solutions for enterprise applications.
- Collaborate on data science tasks, model fine-tuning, and inference workflows.
3. Quantum Algorithms & Engineering
- Build and optimize quantum algorithms, including QAOA.

- Work with Kubernetes, CI/CD, IaC, GitOps, and Linux for service development.
