Red Hat is offering an exciting apprenticeship-based full-time opportunity for 2025 graduates to join its Global Support Services (GSS) team as a Trainee – Associate Software Maintenance Engineer in Pune. This role is ideal for freshers with a strong foundation in Java and Java EE (JEE) who want to build a career in enterprise middleware, open-source technologies, and customer-facing engineering support 🔧🚀.
The apprenticeship will be conducted onsite for up to six months, during which candidates will receive hands-on technical training and real-world exposure to enterprise customers and production systems.

Role Overview
As a Trainee Software Maintenance Engineer, you will support Red Hat’s enterprise middleware product suite, working directly on real customer issues. You’ll gain deep exposure to OpenShift, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), and middleware technologies such as JBoss EAP, Fuse, Messaging, Single Sign-On, and API Management.
You’ll collaborate with experienced engineers, troubleshoot production issues, write patches, and contribute to Red Hat’s knowledge base and open-source communities.
What Will You Do?
- Investigate and troubleshoot issues related to Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform and layered middleware products
- Analyze bugs, gather logs, and provide detailed technical insights
- Propose fixes, workarounds, and preventive solutions for customer issues
- Support global enterprise customers via phone, chat, and remote tools
- Collaborate with engineering, product management, and support leadership teams
- Document solutions and contribute to Red Hat’s knowledge base
- Write and improve code, patches, and technical solutions
- Participate in upstream and enterprise open-source initiatives
